PBSSS burns off the 0pposition at Aylesbury on Saturday 14th October 2006.
What a night for the B Team! Team spirit at an all time high and a great win in the end.
Many of the Team travelled down to Aylesbury by coach, driven by Mike who clearly had ambitions to be working for a big airline company “Thank you for travelling with me today. Our estimated arrival time is………’’ and accompanied by some very well behaved parents!!!
Aylesbury is a fabulous baths with slides and a lazy river. The evening started with great excitement when we all had to get out during the warm up so that they could lower the floor of the pool to make it safe to dive! (It’s all done with gears and levers apparently!)
It was a thrilling Gala with some very close races and everyone on the edge of their seats. Every swimmer tried their best and we all cheered each other on and although some other teams had choreographed stretching routines and pom poms, they didn’t have our secret weapon THE PARENTS!! What volume!!!
The lead changed several times and points were really close. No one knew if we had won until the last announcement, BUT WE HAD! The cheer from the parents raised the roof (and left a few of them croaking for cough sweets!)
Well done to every one, who took part it was a real team effort with every point making a difference. However our winners were…
Ellie Crean, Laura Ankers , Daniel Smith, Chris Upson, Daniel Badger, Emily Nelson, Tom Minchin , Matthew Hyde, Caitlin Horsley, Michael Ashford , Girls 13 & u Medley and Freestyle Relay, Girls 11 & u Freestyle and Medley Relay, Men’s Open Medley Relay, Boys 13 & u Freestyle Relay.
A special mention has to go to 9 year old William Martin who tried to swim on when his goggles slipped and filled up with water so that he couldn’t see where he was. You were really brave!
Thank you to all the parents who supported us and to Mr Smith, Mr Hyde and Mr Horsley for being Officials. Also, thank you to Mrs Nelson and Mrs Ashby for organising us on the poolside and to Mrs Arscott for her encouragement as coach.
