A brilliant second round for the A Team securing a place in the final, I am absolutely sure!  As with all the Speedo Rounds it was a close call throughout the gala but we stayed strong and let the other teams battle it out.  Derby Pheonix, who had won their first round, was our strongest opposition but the other teams managed to take points from Derby Pheonix which secured our place.

Over the course of the evening there were 33 personal bests swam (according to the stroke ladder).  I would like to give a special mention to Holly Lynch who swam her own two individuals and for a fantastic win in the Ladies Open Backstroke; she was exhausted at the end.  I would also like to thank Charlotte Graham and Daniel Smith for stepping into extra races due to injury.  Samantha Pryor has been suffering with shoulder injury but still gave 100% and achieved a personal best on the 50m Freestyle.
Caitlin Horsley and Matthew Hyde joined the team and did themselves proud, even though they were a little nervous.

A big thanks goes to Ryan Long and Marc Collett for travelling back from Swansea and Bath Universities to swim for us.  I know other clubs do not have swimmers with the same dedication.

Whilst I am talking about dedication and without trying to spoil a fantastic night, I would like to stress that training at PBSSS is about being part of a competitive club and a team. As well as achieving personal goals you are swimming for the team and every point counts. There are some swimmers in the club who only have their own personal interests at heart, they do this by electing not to take part in galas, not bothering to check the fixtures and, therefore, never available for any swim, and the worst scenario is when a swimmer will only swim if they get the race that they want.  You are clearly letting your team down and I consider it unacceptable.
