PERRY BEECHES B TEAM turn up the heat at Droitwich Baths
Last night a team of swimmers took part in the second round of the Speedo League at Droitwich. Every swimmer gave it their all and it was another exciting gala with the lead changing many times throughout the evening. Every point counted and Dave Facer, team coach, tried to imitate Martin O’Neil (Villa Manager for the uninformed!) with inspirational pep talks at frequent intervals!!!
Special mention ought to go to the older lads, the two Michaels, Tom, Jack, Dean and Daniel P. Not only do they seem to power up and down the pool, but they are really friendly to all the new swimmers who have just moved to the Senior Team, and they are always ready with encouragement and advice. Thanks lads for demonstrating what being part of a team is all about!
As usual the parents support was great. There is a rumour that the opposition are going to give their swimmers earplugs as your cheering is putting them off!! And well done to Mr Badger for showing true dedication by driving a round trip of 120 miles to fetch Daniel’s kit which he had forgotten!! (I’m glad I wasn’t a passenger in that car!!!)
Thank you to all the parents who were officials and particularly to Mrs Minchin and Mrs Plimmer who were run off their feet getting us all to the right race, particularly as some of the team seemed to have read too much Harry Potter and kept disappearing magically at regular intervals!!! Thanks also to Dave Facer who volunteered to give up a night out to come with us. (I’m sure Mrs Facer will forgive you soon!)
At the end of the evening we were just nudged into 3rd place, beaten by Droitwich A and Stourbridge B, both were very strong teams and there were only 3 points between us and Stourbridge.
